[ Farkle Minkus didn't really know the often so called great Shawn Hunter. He knew of him, of course, with his parents' and Rileys' still being so close. It also helps that his father sometimes commented on their junior high school years before he went to the other side of the school. His relationship to the Matthews was different than the ones Farkle has with his daughter-- Or well, maybe he's another Minkus that also fell in love with a Topanga (of sorts) but. That's where the similarities differ.

And if he was honest with himself Farkle would admit he wanted to get to know the older man who had become such an important figure in his fake-wife's life. It's why he kind of casts a passing glance with he's in Topanga's and Shawn is not-so-secretly flirting with Katy. At least to him. Sometimes he pipes up, other times he doesn't. Today is one of those sometimes. ]

Did you ever consider my dad a friend?

[ Nailed it. ]

[ What is with these kids and their asking him startling and terrifying questions? Every week with them. He's already been startled by Farkle once this month, when Cory finally got around to telling him that the kid's mom was Jennifer Bassett of all people.

He hadn't thought about her in years. But he could see it. They were both insanely tall for their age. Not that it was noticeable around Riley. Who was also tall for her age. Seriously, did these kids sleep on racks?

But he digressed, in his thoughts. These kids asked terrifying questions. ]

Uh. We weren't not friends. [ Suspicious and drawn out words now: ] Whyyyy?

[farkle]

[It wasn't even a year ago he was shorter than Riley, you know, and now he's taller. Being taller is nice but he's still a squeak and that's his problem. Not that he tries to linger on that-- but he does.

He pauses a moment before giving a somewhat wicked grin.]

No reason. Just collecting data on the enemies of the Minkus family.

[Carefully, measured, but still somehow sounding cheerful before he shrugs.]

He talks about you guys sometimes so I thought I should ask.

[ Oh, the suspicion does not even go away a little bit. Because he can imagine what Jennifer says about him. He cannot even begin to think what Stuart Minkus would possibly have to say. ]

What does he say?

[farkle]

Do you really want to know?

[ Maybe it's bad, it could be!! It's not. But it's more fun like this. ]

I don't know. Do I?

[farkle]

Sorry, sir, he said your haircuts were those that would be seen in the equivalent of barbershop kitchen nightmares.

[ He snorts! ]

Your father should not be talking about people's haircuts.

Minkus' have very respectful haircuts.

[ Gestures to his own haircut. Which was terrible like a year ago, but he's snazzy now. ]

Your father slept with a cereal bowl on his head for the first sixteen years of his life. [ Shawn, that is a lie. ] That's why we called him Captain Crunch. [ Shawn, you did not. ]

[farkle]

That would only work if I hadn't seen all of his yearbook photos. [But he can't deny the name, if only for the fact that he's well aware that Cory and Shawn had a lot of names for Stuart.] You didn't stand a chance against him in the waterwars.

Yeah. Maybe. [ Maybe not. Shawn still has doubts. ] But then he went to the Other Side of the School.

Well, someone had to be the pioneer of the future. Look where he's at now.

Rich famous and upgraded to Count Chocula?

And practically owns corporate America, yeah.

Giving away penguins every chance he gets, I know.

Are you jealous you don't have a penguin yet? I can hook you up.

Nah. I can in no way provide a stable home for an arctic bird.

[farkle]

Too bad. We have plenty of extras.

[hitthebrokenroad]

You know, there's this thing called wildlife preserves.

[farkle]

We have those, too, in the south and north poles. But everyone these days wants penguins.

People wanting penguins doesn't mean people should get penguins.

[farkle]

We remind them to refrigerate them.
